Hey {{ Name | there }}!
This week, New York is giving you range. And we mean that in every possible direction.
On one end, you have JOYR!DE at Loafers on Tuesday — a top selector in an intimate cocktail bar, playing something slower and more personal than you'd ever hear them play anywhere else. Or, if you really want to go internal, there's techno yoga at Trans-Pecos. Yes, that's a real thing. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like.
On the other end, ON TOP at Le Bain on Thursday has Amber Valentine and Saint Valentine holding the rooftop with a show from P_A_T and Muffy. Gloriously unhinged, as Susanne Bartsch intended.
And everything in between.
Wednesday, Tim Lucent goes all vinyl at Outer Heaven for deep house grooves in one of downtown Manhattan's most intentional listening rooms. Also Wednesday, there is queer line dancing at Roberta's. Both correct. Both available to you.
Thursday, RUMBA for Venezuela at Good Room raises funds for earthquake relief at home — an all-Venezuelan lineup spinning techno and house all night, every dollar going directly to people who need it. And Breaking Capacity brings lesbian drum and bass to Boyfriend co-op. Because why not.
Think of this week like the New York Magazine approval matrix, except instead of highbrow and lowbrow, the axes are pensive and explosive, intimate and unhinged. There are events in every quadrant this week.
Find your coordinates. Go.
Tuesday August 4th

KANDYLION @ Animal, on Tue, 4 Aug, 20:00–02:00
KANDYLION's underground house residency at Animal continues — a Brooklyn staple of queer and sapphic nightlife, her high-energy sets pulling from house, acid, breaks, and techno with the kind of floor knowledge that comes from years of building real community around the music.

Open Decks with STEEN and Giant Size Josh @ SILO, on Tue, 4 Aug, 19:00–02:00
Progressive house and house open decks on SILO's Danley system, this week co-hosted by Giant Size Josh. Sign up in person for a 12-minute slot and the floor stays open to anyone who wants to play.
JOYR!DE – Adam Unknown @ Loafers Cocktail Bar, on Tue, 4 Aug, 19:00–23:00
Adam Unknown is a Boston-rooted selector who has been quietly building a reputation in the queer underground without much fanfare — exactly the kind of artist JOYR!DE was designed to spotlight. Four hours at Loafers in a room where the music does the talking, at a volume and intimacy you'd never get at a bigger show.

Techno Yoga: Yaya Flows, Sobolik @ Trans-Pecos, on Tue, 4 Aug, 19:00–21:00
Not a dance floor — a yoga class set to techno, with Sobolik behind the decks and Yaya Flows leading the movement. Two hours at Trans-Pecos to stretch and throw that ass on your mat, as Yaya herself puts it.
In The Echo Chamber: An Evening of Dub Reggae — Ayanna Heaven, Carter Van Pelt, Jonny Go Figure @ Silence Please, on Tue, 4 Aug, 19:00–22:00
Not a dance floor — a listening session and conversation about dub, tracing its six-decade evolution from the instrumental building block of Jamaican soundsystem culture to its global adoption as the foundation of remix. Ayanna Heaven, Carter Van Pelt, and Jonny Go Figure guide the evening through one of the most quietly influential sounds in music history.
🔔 Never Miss a Last-Minute Drop 🔔
NYC club culture runs on its own timeline — which means some of the best events only surface 24 hours before they happen, buried in someone's Instagram stories with an RSVP link that disappears in ten minutes.
I catch as much as I can for the newsletter, but when something drops late, Instagram is where I post it first.

New Jersey's underground tastemakers cross the river to Jupiter Disco. Mike Foch connects the room to the roots of queer, jackin', and tribal New York club history, SOICY anchors with subby experimental hypnotic rhythms, Matt Pace takes the floor into dubby dream-like soundscapes, and TOR$O locks it down with acid and progressive minimal loops.

It's all here this week.
See you on the floor (or in the sauna)🪩
