Hey {{ Name | there }}!
Don't let the sweater weather fool you. The dance floors are still running hot.
What shifts in mid-October is who's on the decks. Midweek belongs to newer names right now, the ones who don't usually get this much space to stretch out.
That's the good part. You get to find them before anyone else does, surrounded by people who really want to be there and are open to whatever comes next.
My special shout-out goes to JOYR!DE on Tuesday, with theoretic at Loafers Cocktail Bar. It's less of a get-down night and more of a living room one, cozy and completely delightful.
Thursday, hometown crew Razor-N-Tape goes all out at public records with A Joyful Noise. No glitter overload, just impeccable music.
Want that same care at a more intimate scale? PEACHFUZZ DISCOTHEQUE at Friends and Lovers has you covered the same night.
And Thursday keeps going, from Camilla Lubatti headlining the Femme Frequency launch at MAD Radio NYC to queer line dancing with Stud Country at Xanadu Roller Arts.
So this is the week to show up unapologetically authentic, playful and a little curious. You might hear your next favorite before the rest of the city catches on.
Tuesday October 13th

Open Decks – STEEN, Clübsession @ SILO, on Tue, 13 Oct, 7pm–2am
House and techno from whoever signs up, played in short sets on a 15,000 watt sound system that makes a bedroom DJ sound like a headliner. Loose, friendly and a little unpredictable, like a house party where everyone brought a USB.

Off The Record: Tuesday Sessions – FIREWARE, LASARTE @ Public Arts, on Tue, 13 Oct, 11pm–4am
House and electronica downtown, starting late and running long for people who treat a weeknight as negotiable. A weekly with a local-heavy booth and a crowd that came to dance, not to be seen.

JOYR!DE – theoretic @ Loafers Cocktail Bar, on Tue, 13 Oct, 7pm–11pm
House, disco and NY garage with a lot of soul, played in a cocktail bar that feels like your friend's living room. The lucky magic is the scale: a selector who usually plays much bigger rooms, a few feet away, wandering over to the decks like it's nothing.

CAMGIRLL8 @ Animal, on Tue, 13 Oct, 8pm–2am
Fresh, forward-leaning dance music for the gay bar, six hours of it from one selector with the whole night to stretch out. Low stakes, no cover, and a room that's happy to be out on a school night.

No Scrubz NYC Open Decks – FLWRSHRK @ Marco's, on Tue, 13 Oct, 8pm–12am
Tech house and club tracks at a monthly open decks where the sign-up sheet is for women, femme, non-binary and trans DJs of every skill level. Part meet-up, part showcase, with a room that cheers for the first-timers as loudly as the regulars.
🔔 Never Miss a Last-Minute Drop 🔔
NYC club culture runs on its own timeline — which means some of the best events only surface 24 hours before they happen, buried in someone's Instagram stories with an RSVP link that disappears in ten minutes.
I catch as much as I can for the newsletter, but when something drops late, Instagram is where I post it first.

Wednesday October 14th

Outer Heaven presents – Robbie Lumpkin @ Outer Heaven, on Wed, 14 Oct, 8pm–3am
Deep house with a tech house edge, one selector open to close in a microclub small enough to feel every change of direction. A slow build with nowhere to hide and no reason to leave.

Haus of Lil Girlz presents Welcome to the Dollhaus – Hunty, Happy Hapa, N33N, Doll La Pu$$ @ Mood Ring, on Wed, 14 Oct, 10pm–2am
A high-energy, femme-forward queer dance party with drag performances between the beats and a dress code of getting fully dolled up. Loud, glamorous and a little unhinged, in the best way.

TUCKWILD – Elly DJ, SLUTZ, DJ Delish, Miss Woman The Woman, De De-Lite, Giovanni Luciano @ Bossa Nova Civic Club, on Wed, 14 Oct, 10pm–4am
Club music from a six-deep lineup in Bushwick's coziest dark room, the kind of night that keeps changing shape every hour. Sweaty, late and built for people with nowhere to be in the morning.

dubby/minimal happy hour – .json, Daimei @ Bossa Nova Civic Club, on Wed, 14 Oct, 7pm–10pm
Minimal, dubby, groove-heavy house, eased in gently and getting deeper as the room fills. An after-work drink that turns into a dance floor before you've noticed.

synchroNYCity II: the downward spiral – Bella Mode, Sam Valle, SUPER WAV @ Jupiter Disco, on Wed, 14 Oct, 7pm–2am
A full-album listening session of Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral, followed by three sets that pull its mood through ambient, downtempo, post-punk, industrial, EBM and techno. Dark, textured and strangely cathartic, on a sound system that gets every bit of the grit across.
Thursday October 15th

Razor-N-Tape presents – A Joyful Noise + Special Guests @ public records, on Thu, 15 Oct, 8pm–2am
Live disco and house from a full band, back in The Sound Room to celebrate the album they recorded right there. Real instruments, real singers and a room that sounds as good as the records it presses.

PEACHFUZZ DISCOTHEQUE – KPAKPO, SILK, King Shabazz @ Friends and Lovers, on Thu, 15 Oct, 7pm–1am
70s R&B, soul, disco, jazz and funk from across the Black Diaspora, in the spirit of Paradise Garage, The Gallery and the parties that built this city's dance culture. Warm, joyful and free in the way those rooms were meant to be.

ROMANCE – Eli Escobar @ Gabriela, on Thu, 15 Oct, 9pm–3am
Electro and pop with big emotions and sad bangers, at a party that firmly believes pop isn't a dirty word. Crying on the dance floor is encouraged, and so is singing along.

Ardio presents – Ardio Zemog, Cutbird @ Jupiter Disco, on Thu, 15 Oct, 10pm–2am
Groove-led deep cuts and unreleased tracks, a night that tips its hat to the musicians, producers and dancers behind the music. One of the best-sounding rooms in the city, used exactly the way it should be.

Outer Heaven presents – Timo Lee, UMA DJ @ Outer Heaven, on Thu, 15 Oct, 8pm–4am
Underground disco and house with dub and Chicago roots running through it, from two selectors with old-school souls and deep crates. Eight hours in a microclub, which is long enough to forget what time it is.

Femme Frequency [Launch Party] – Camilla Lubatti, Grem @ MAD Radio NYC, on Thu, 15 Oct, 5pm–2am
Spacey, acid-laced club records, old-school cuts next to brand new ones, at a listening bar that takes its sound seriously. It starts as a drink after work and unfolds from there.

Stud Country @ Xanadu Roller Arts, on Thu, 15 Oct, 8pm–12am
Queer line dancing and two-step on a roller rink floor, with free lessons through the night so nobody stays a beginner for long. Boots, country songs and a whole room moving in the same direction.

E'Klektik x CELOSIA – ANTON, Harry Fletcher, Jared Maharaj @ Mood Ring, on Thu, 15 Oct, 7pm–10pm
Funk-laced house drifting into minimal, electro, techno and garage, with swung, bass-driven grooves and a wonky edge. Three hours where Barcelona's left-field club sound meets Brooklyn's, early enough to still make dinner.

Las Guaracheras @ DROM, on Thu, 15 Oct, 8pm–late
Live salsa and guaracha from a Colombian sextet built on improvisation, with a vibraphone right at the center of the sound. A night for dancing with a partner, or finding one.

ILLEGAL: Rave Flyers of the 90s Launch Party – DB, DJ Miss Parker, DJ Three, S4M23 @ Nowadays, on Thu, 15 Oct, 9pm–3am
Techno, acid and jungle with the reckless abandon of 90s rave, from the generation that built it and the one keeping it alive. A book launch that's really an excuse for a history lesson you can dance to.
Bring a jacket.
Leave it at coat check.
Go find someone new to love.
See you on the floor 🪩
